Job Overview: The Associate Legal Officer position is designed for individuals who will work under the supervision of the Section Head and alongside senior Legal Officers. Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate Legal Officer will be responsible for a range of tasks including: conducting research and benchmarking to inform legal studies; drafting initial legal opinions and contributing to comprehensive legal analyses; preparing drafts on legal issues related to the IAEA's functions; selecting and analyzing relevant legal materials for reports; providing preliminary interpretations of legal instruments; offering legal advice on specific issues; and preparing background materials and reports for committees. Additionally, the Associate Legal Officer will draft contracts and agreements, review legal aspects of various documents, and support the General Legal Section in its operations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in law with a strong academic record and must be admitted to practice in a national bar or equivalent. An advanced degree in law is considered an asset. Applicants should have at least one year of relevant experience in any field of law, demonstrating a solid understanding of legal principles and practices. The ability to draft clear and concise legal documents is essential, along with a strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in law is required for this position, with a good academic record. Candidates who have an advanced degree in law will have an advantage in the selection process. Additional Notes: The IAEA offers a competitive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $43,144, along with a variable post adjustment currently amounting to US $22,47
