Job Overview: The intern will join the UN Partnerships Team within UNICEF's Public Partnerships Division in New York, where they will play a crucial role in supporting the team’s efforts to build and shape partnerships aimed at achieving positive outcomes for children globally. Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's responsibilities will include analyzing survey results from the United Nations Development System, providing strategic analyses of discussions within the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and supporting the analysis of recent UN reforms. They will follow Executive Board sessions and provide accurate summaries of relevant discussions. The intern will also coordinate UNICEF's strategic engagement in multilateral and interagency forums, prepare briefing notes and documentation for senior staff participation in meetings, organize consultations with partners, and manage day-to-day communications with colleagues and focal points within UNICEF and other UN agencies. Additionally, the intern will maintain updated information on UNICEF's positions on various topics, draft social media content to highlight the work of the UN Partnerships team, and assist in preparations for interagency meetings.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be recent graduates with a master's degree or currently enrolled in a graduate program in International Relations, Social Sciences, Development, or a related field. A strong interest and relevant background in these areas are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Familiarity with UNICEF's mission and values is also important for this role.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should possess a master's degree or be currently enrolled in a graduate program in fields such as International Relations, Social Sciences, Development, or other relevant disciplines. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of UNICEF's work and the global context in which it operates.
Experience: While prior work experience is not mandatory, any relevant internships or volunteer work in international organizations, non-profits, or related fields will be considered an asset. Additional Notes: This internship is a full-time position, requiring 40 hours of work per week. It can be conducted in-person, remotely, or in a hybrid format. Interns are responsible for obtaining their G-4 visa prior to traveling to the United States, as entry without a valid visa is not permitted. UNICEF will provide guidance and a letter of acceptance for the internship but will not cover costs related to health insurance or accidents during the internship period.
