Job Overview:
The position of Researcher for Socio-Economic Studies at CERN involves joining the IdeaSquare group, which is dedicated to innovation and collaborative research. The role is closely linked to the IdeaSquare Journal of Experimental Innovation and the coordination of student training programs. The researcher will be responsible for conducting research on collaborative spaces and innovation, organizing student training programs focused on collaborative innovation, and co-designing new collaborations related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with scientific organizations. This position offers an opportunity to engage in meaningful research that contributes to societal challenges and innovation methodologies, making it a vital role within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Researcher for Socio-Economic Studies include: conducting in-depth research on collaborative spaces and innovation practices; organizing and facilitating student training programs that emphasize collaborative innovation; co-designing and developing new partnerships and collaborations that align with the Sustainable Development Goals; managing administrative and editorial processes for the IdeaSquare Journal; organizing online workshops for prospective authors; and designing, organizing, and delivering training programs or summer schools that focus on creativity, ideation, and innovation methodologies. The researcher will also be expected to contribute to the overall mission of CERN by engaging with various stakeholders and promoting innovative practices within the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following qualifications: a professional background in Education or Innovation (or a related field); eligibility as a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State; and either a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience. Additionally, candidates should not have previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract. Experience in managing academic journal processes and organizing workshops is essential, while experience in societal challenges and student-driven initiatives is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree or a PhD in Education, Innovation, or a related field. Candidates with a Master's degree should have between 2 to 6 years of relevant professional experience, while those with a PhD should have no more than 3 years of post-graduation experience. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of collaborative innovation and the socio-economic factors that influence research and education.

Experience:
The level of experience needed for this position includes a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 6 years of post-graduation professional experience for candidates with a Master's degree. For those with a PhD, no more than 3 years of relevant experience is required. Experience in managing administrative processes for academic journals, organizing workshops, and delivering training programs is highly valued.   • The position offers a competitive monthly stipend ranging from 6287 to 6911 Swiss Francs (net of tax), along with comprehensive health coverage for the employee and their family, membership in the CERN Pension Fund, and various allowances depending on individual circumstances. Employees are entitled to 30 days of paid leave per year and will have access to on-the-job training, formal training opportunities, and in-house language courses.
