Job Overview: As the Senior Program Officer for Malaria Modeling & Quantitative Science, the individual will engage in both direct analytics and partnership management to enhance quantitative rigor in malaria eradication strategies. This role involves conducting mathematical modeling and advanced analytics to inform product development and investment decisions. The officer will also support the application of quantitative analysis to global policy and operational questions related to malaria eradication. The position requires collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective decision-making and data-informed strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Program Officer will be responsible for making and managing investments in malaria quantitative sciences teams globally. They will inform the foundation's malaria eradication strategy, including product research and development (R&D) and target product profiles. The officer will support malaria product R&D through mathematical modeling and quantitative analytics, facilitate product development stage-gate decisions, and prepare necessary documentation. They will utilize their technical expertise to address impactful issues, develop innovative quantitative approaches for optimal intervention delivery, and communicate complex methods and results to diverse audiences. Additionally, the officer will identify knowledge gaps and propose solutions to strengthen analytical tools and methods used by the malaria community, ensuring best practices in data dissemination.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Epidemiology, or Computational Biology; a PhD is preferred. They should demonstrate collaborative work experience, particularly in modeling applied to infectious diseases, and possess strong data analysis skills. Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., R, Python) is required, along with knowledge of disease control and public health issues in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Excellent communication skills are essential for translating complex data into actionable insights for product developers and decision-makers.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in a quantitative field is required, with a preference for candidates holding a PhD. The educational background should include training in statistical methods, mathematical modeling, and data analysis relevant to public health and infectious diseases.
