Job Overview:
As an Electronics Technician for Electronics Modules Assembly, you will be an integral part of the BE-CEM-EPR Team, focusing on the assembly subcontracting of printed circuit board (PCB) production. This role involves receiving training on PCB assembly processes and understanding the specific quality requirements and acceptance criteria based on international standards. You will be responsible for quality inspection and validation of electronics modules produced by qualified contractors, as well as participating in the procurement of electronic components for both internal production and subcontracting. This position is ideal for individuals eager to gain hands-on experience in electronics assembly and procurement, while also contributing to cutting-edge scientific research.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the assembly subcontracting of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Conduct quality inspections and validations of electronics modules post-production.
  • Engage in the procurement process for electronic components, collaborating with internal teams and external subcontractors.
  • Interpret assembly files, bills of materials (BoMs), and technical documentation to facilitate the assembly process.
  • Maintain a self-motivated and enthusiastic approach to learning and development within the role.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve project goals and deadlines.
  • Commit to learning the basics of French if your primary language is English, and vice versa.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State. By the application deadline, applicants should have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Electronics or a related field. The highest educational qualification required is a general secondary education diploma. It is important to note that applicants who have previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract are not eligible. Additionally, candidates with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree are also ineligible for this position.

The minimum educational requirement for this position is a general secondary education diploma. Candidates should have a foundational understanding of electronics or a related field, which can be demonstrated through their educational background and any relevant experience.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a maximum of two years of professional experience in the field of Electronics or a related area since their graduation. Languages:

  • The job reference for this position is BE-CEM-EPR-2025-97-GRAE. The compensation includes a monthly stipend of 4624 Swiss Francs (net of tax), comprehensive health coverage for the employee and their family, and membership in the CERN Pension Fund. Additional benefits may include an installation grant, family allowances, and travel expense payments at the beginning and end of the contract. Employees are entitled to 30 days of paid leave per year, along with opportunities for on-the-job training and formal training at CERN, including in-house language courses.
