Job Overview: The 3E Analyst position is crucial for supporting Member States in building local capacities for conducting comprehensive assessments of energy options, particularly focusing on the role of nuclear power in sustainable energy development. The analyst will report to the Unit Head and Section Head, ensuring that effective support is provided to Member States. The role encompasses education, analysis, facilitation, and teamwork, with a strong emphasis on developing analytical tools and methodologies for energy-economy-environment assessments. The analyst will prepare reports and presentations on energy and nuclear power development, act as a Scientific Secretary for technical meetings, and provide technical support for capacity building in sustainable energy development.
Duties and Responsibilities: The 3E Analyst will be responsible for preparing detailed reports, papers, and presentation materials on various aspects of energy, electricity, and nuclear power development. This includes acting as the Scientific Secretary for technical meetings and workshops organized by the IAEA. The analyst will also develop and enhance the IAEA's analytical tools, such as indicators and assessment methodologies, and update user manuals and training materials. Additionally, the analyst will support the Unit Head and Section Head in reviewing program implementation, maintaining performance indicators, and planning future programs. Providing technical support to Member States for capacity building and conducting national energy studies using IAEA tools is also a key responsibility.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in energy economics, environmental policy analysis, operations research, electrical/mechanical/nuclear engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field. A minimum of five years of relevant working experience in energy systems analysis, energy-environment interactions, and evaluation of energy technologies is required. The candidate should demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills in English, with knowledge of other official IAEA languages being an asset.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in fields related to energy economics, environmental policy analysis, or engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, or nuclear engineering. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complex interactions between energy systems and environmental policies.
Experience: The position requires at least five years of professional experience in analyzing energy systems, understanding energy-environment interactions, and evaluating various energy technologies. This experience should include practical knowledge of energy planning and the implications of different energy sources, including nuclear power, on sustainable development.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.
Additional Notes: The IAEA offers a competitive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $70,212, along with a variable post adjustment currently amounting to US $36,58
