Job Overview: The Senior Analyst at the Ukraine Analysis Hub (UAH) plays a crucial role in supervising the planning, production, and quality of analytical products related to the humanitarian situation in Ukraine. This position involves writing and managing analysis, contributing to the development of ACAPS methodologies, and providing on-the-job training for the team members under supervision. The Senior Analyst is expected to be the leading expert on the Ukraine context within the UAH and will support the Team Leader in networking, partnerships, and fundraising efforts. The role is integral to the management team and requires a commitment to ACAPS values, including agency, integrity, and collaboration. The UAH has been monitoring the conflict in Ukraine since March 2022, producing high-quality analytical reports and datasets to support humanitarian efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Analyst is responsible for managing the production of analytical products, ensuring that they align with the hub's strategy and objectives. This includes facilitating design processes, ensuring smooth production timelines, and maintaining high quality and methodological accuracy. The role also involves coordinating resources, providing coaching and feedback to team members, and ensuring effective collaboration with other ACAPS teams. The Senior Analyst will conduct secondary data analysis, contribute to the maintenance of information management systems, and support the overall information needs of the humanitarian response in Ukraine. Additionally, the Senior Analyst will develop and maintain a network of key interlocutors for information gathering, represent ACAPS at key meetings, and provide technical analytical support to humanitarian actors. Management responsibilities include line management of team members, supporting their professional development, and contributing to the hub's strategic development.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a relevant Master’s degree in fields such as international relations, political science, humanitarian action, or related social sciences. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the humanitarian sector is required, including at least 2 years in research, analysis, or advocacy. Candidates should demonstrate advanced analytical skills, a deep understanding of conflict analysis methodologies, and problem-solving abilities. Experience in designing and conducting analysis in humanitarian contexts, as well as familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research methods, is essential. Strong communication skills in English, both written and oral, are mandatory, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Educational Background: The position requires a relevant Master’s degree, preferably in international relations, political science, peace and conflict studies, humanitarian action, international development, or other related social sciences. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian issues and conducting effective analysis.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of professional experience in the humanitarian sector, with a minimum of 2 years specifically in research, analysis, advocacy, or related fields. This experience should include demonstrated skills in both quantitative and qualitative analysis, as well as familiarity with the humanitarian landscape and the ability to engage with various stakeholders.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with strong written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Russian is highly desired, as it would facilitate better engagement with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of the analysis conducted.
Additional Notes: The position is a full-time role with a 100% commitment through March 2026, under a NORCAP contract, with the possibility of extension depending on funding. The Senior Analyst will be expected to travel occasionally as part of their duties.
