Job Overview:
The SCM Associate will play a crucial role in leading procurement and supply chain management for malaria case management commodities in Francophone West Africa, particularly in countries like Benin, Burkina Faso, and Sierra Leone. This position involves collaborating with CHAI country teams, government partners, and various stakeholders to enhance the quantification of commodity needs and strengthen national distribution plans. The SCM Associate will also be responsible for developing tools and interventions that can be managed by national staff, ensuring knowledge transfer. Additionally, the role includes expanding the use of digital information tools and systems to improve supply management at both national and community levels. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate resourcefulness, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with government partners and CHAI country teams to identify data and capacity gaps affecting procurement and distribution systems, and develop tailored solutions for malaria programs.
  • Work closely with malaria country teams to integrate data sources and build models for quantifying and forecasting demand for malaria commodities.
  • Compile information on registration, quantification, procurement, and distribution processes for malaria commodities, documenting gaps and recommendations for CHAI's engagement.
  • Identify new opportunities for CHAI to engage with national malaria programs and in-country partners to enhance supply chain management.
  • Ensure effective procurement and distribution of commodities through planning, data analysis, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Establish supply chain monitoring and evaluation indicators to track progress and impact, and report findings regularly.
  • Share updates, best practices, and lessons learned with stakeholders.
  • Support CHAI country teams with supply chain strategy and training, fostering strong relationships with national malaria programs.

Required Qualifications:
Essential qualifications include fluent written and spoken French and advanced English skills. A Bachelor’s degree in health, public policy, health economics, or supply chain management is required, along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in public health, health commodities management, or related fields. Candidates must demonstrate high proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and possess exceptional analytical and communication skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team is crucial, as is the capacity to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should be willing to travel up to 50% as needed, including potential trips to rural areas, and must have a strong work ethic and dedication to CHAI's mission.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree with a focus on health, public policy, health economics, or supply chain management. Advanced degrees such as a Master of Public Health (MPH) or Master of Science (MS) in relevant fields are considered advantageous.

Experience:
The position requires at least 3 years of relevant experience in public health, health commodities management, health strategy consulting, or related fields. Experience in an international context or entrepreneurial environment is preferred, along with a strong track record of producing accurate demand forecasts and experience in supply chain strategy and design.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken French is mandatory, along with advanced English skills. Knowledge of Portuguese is considered an advantage.
