Job Overview:
The Programme Assistant will play a crucial role in the Technical Assistance Unit of IBE, focusing on curriculum-related matters. This position involves supporting the production and implementation of technical assistance projects aimed at enhancing educational systems in member states. The Programme Assistant will assist in drafting, launching, and executing projects that align with IBE's mission to improve educational quality and equity. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure that the technical assistance provided is effective and sustainable. The Programme Assistant will also contribute to the development of pedagogical tools and training materials, particularly in areas such as Health and Well-Being education, thereby directly impacting the quality of education delivered in member states.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Assistant will be responsible for a range of tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Supporting the production of technical and financial offers for IBE’s technical assistance to member states.
  • Assisting in the implementation of project activities, which includes drafting Terms of Reference for hiring consultants, managing their work, and ensuring quality control.
  • Contributing to the production of pedagogical tools for curriculum reform, focusing on both overall reform and specific thematic areas.
  • Supporting gender-related technical assistance initiatives.
  • Assisting in the production of content for training on Health and Well-Being education and implementing training activities.
  • Contributing to the organizational and institutional development processes of IBE, including resource mobilization and strategic partnerships.
  • Supporting communication activities related to curriculum reform, including drafting articles, blog posts, and briefs to document project progress and engage stakeholders.
  • Preparing monthly progress reports on milestones achieved in the execution of assigned tasks.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Education, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Economics, or a related field. Additionally, applicants should have at least five years of professional experience in relevant fields, with a strong background in project design and implementation. Proficiency in English or French is essential, with good knowledge of the other language being advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of educational systems and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
The position requires an advanced university degree, specifically a Master's degree or equivalent, in fields such as Education, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Economics, or any related discipline. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of educational systems and the role of curriculum in enhancing learning outcomes.

Experience:
A minimum of five years of professional experience is required for this position. This experience should be in the fields of Education, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Economics, or related areas. Candidates should have a proven track record in project design and implementation, demonstrating their ability to manage and execute educational initiatives effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English or French is mandatory, with good knowledge of the other language considered an asset. This bilingual proficiency is essential for effective communication within the international context of UNESCO and for engaging with diverse stakeholders in the educational sector.

The contract for this position is non-staff and will last between 7 to 11 months.
