Job Overview:
The EHA Coordinator is a technical reference for the mission, contributing to the development of Solidarités International's strategy by proposing a sectoral strategy in the field of Water, Hygiene, and Sanitation (EHA). The coordinator is responsible for ensuring the quality and relevance of the technical approaches proposed and ensuring alignment between EHA activities, the organization's general objectives, and the needs of the populations. The role involves coordinating the project cycle, particularly the operational monitoring of EHA programs implemented in the country. The EHA Coordinator also contributes to the capitalization and improvement of EHA methods and techniques used by Solidarités International. The position requires strong leadership in EHA projects, participation in project writing, and operational follow-up of ongoing EHA programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead EHA projects on the mission, ensuring quality and relevance of interventions.
  • Participate in the writing of project proposals and activity reports.
  • Immerse in the EHA mission strategy for 2024 and lead ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Represent SI in coordination meetings and lead the Cholera Working Group.
  • Monitor ongoing EHA programs and ensure operational effectiveness.
  • Maintain the role of focal point for EHA on sites, particularly in Nzulo, Komanda, and Rhoe.
  • Remain a key actor in emergency EHA responses and construction/rehabilitation of water networks.
  • Diversify funding sources and expand intervention areas.
  • Ensure community mobilization and promote hygiene practices. 1
  • Develop relevant monitoring tools for all activities under responsibility.

Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in hydraulics, civil engineering, rural development, construction, public health, or project management.
  • Over 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector.
  • More than 5 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in WASH (both hard and soft components).
  • Knowledge in the construction of water facilities and sanitation systems.
  • Familiarity with community mobilization methodologies and hygiene promotion practices.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a higher education degree in relevant fields such as hydraulics, civil engineering, rural development, construction, public health, or project management. This educational background is essential to ensure the candidate has the necessary technical knowledge and skills to perform effectively in the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 5 years in a similar position. This experience is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the specific challenges faced in the field of water, sanitation, and hygiene.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory. Proficiency in English and Swahili is considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration in a multilingual environment.

  • The role is based in Goma, with potential deployments to operational bases in the region. The salary starts at EUR 2860 gross per month, with additional benefits including a monthly per diem of USD 800, housing coverage, and travel expenses. Expatriates will receive health insurance covering medical expenses, including dental and optical care, and a system of breaks every three months. Living conditions in Goma are described as good, with access to varied food and social opportunities, although conditions may vary in other operational areas.
