Job Overview:
The Print Finisher position is situated within the Publications & Conference Management Section (PCMS) of the Publications Conference and Knowledge Management Division (PCKMD) at UNECA. The role involves overseeing the print finishing operations to ensure the timely production of official documents and publications. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Head of Production Services and the printing supervisor, coordinating the workflow of a specific shift. The position requires a strong understanding of print finishing equipment and processes, as well as the ability to interpret technical specifications and recommend efficient production methods. The Print Finisher will also be responsible for maintaining safety standards, training junior staff, and ensuring a clean and organized work environment. This role is critical in supporting UNECA's mission by ensuring high-quality production of materials that contribute to the organization's goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Print Finisher include organizing and coordinating the work of a shift to ensure timely production, operating print-finishing equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), interfacing with various stakeholders to clarify job requirements, distributing assignments for efficient processing, maintaining daily statistics, interpreting technical specifications, performing operator-level troubleshooting and maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and training junior staff. The Print Finisher will also assist in data collection and analysis, prepare presentations and reports, and perform other related tasks as required. The role may involve rotating shifts, weekend on-call duties, and availability for overtime as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience as a print finisher. This requirement is reduced to five years for those with a first-level university degree or higher. Knowledge of the printing industry standards, designing, printing, and desktop publishing is desirable. Additionally, experience in data analytics or related fields is an asset. The position demands a strong understanding of print finishing processes and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining high standards of professionalism and efficiency.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Further studies or training in electromechanical engineering is considered desirable, as it provides relevant technical knowledge that can enhance performance in the role. Candidates with higher educational qualifications may have a competitive advantage in the selection process.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of seven years of relevant experience in print finishing, with a reduction to five years for candidates holding a first-level university degree or higher. This experience should include progressively responsible roles that demonstrate the candidate's ability to manage print finishing operations effectively. Familiarity with data analytics or related areas is also beneficial, as it supports the analytical aspects of the role.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory for this position, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French, another official United Nations language, is considered an advantage and may enhance a candidate's profile.
