Job Posting Organization:
Solidarités International (SI) is an international humanitarian aid organization that has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters for over 40 years. The organization focuses on meeting vital needs such as access to water, food, and shelter. SI is particularly committed to combating diseases related to unsafe water, which is the leading cause of mortality worldwide. The organization operates in 26 countries and employs a total of 3,200 people, including expatriates, national staff, headquarters employees, and some volunteers. SI's mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) began in 2001 and has become one of the largest missions in terms of financial volume, currently managing a budget of approximately 15.2 million euros annually. The organization aims to maintain a strong emergency response capacity while developing sustainable solutions to the issues affecting the populations in the eastern part of the country.

Job Overview:
The position of Missions at Solidarités International involves contributing to the accountability towards institutional and NGO partners, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, and coordinating the preparation and consolidation of donor reports in collaboration with program teams on multi-base and multi-sector projects. The role also includes continuous monitoring of funding opportunities, enhancing the visibility of the mission through communication strategies, and supporting the Grants & Partnerships Coordinator in developing project proposals. The position is critical in ensuring that the mission's activities align with the strategic objectives and that reporting requirements are met effectively. The first two to three months will focus on launching new projects for 2025, engaging in contractualization issues, and operationalizing the communication plan while supporting the development of reporting tools and strategies for the mission in DRC.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Missions position include:
  • Ensuring rigorous accountability to mission partners (both institutional and NGOs).
  • Monitoring contractual obligations in terms of reporting by updating tools within the Grants & Partnerships department.
  • Coordinating the drafting and consolidation of donor reports in collaboration with program teams on multi-base and multi-sector projects, managing a diverse portfolio of donors (ECHO, FCDO, DDC, CDCS, etc.).
  • Conducting continuous monitoring of funding opportunities and analyzing their relevance to the mission.
  • Developing the mission's visibility by leading the communication strategy and organizing communication actions.
  • Preparing the quarterly newsletter for the mission.
  • Supporting the Grants & Partnerships Coordinator in developing project proposals.
  • Actively participating in the department's activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a higher education degree in Political Science, International Relations, International Development, or a related field. A first experience in the humanitarian sector in a similar position is considered an asset. Technical skills required include a good understanding of donor reporting mechanisms and guidelines relevant to the mission, as well as knowledge of activities related to security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Food Security and Water, Hygiene, and Sanitation (WASH), although this is not essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, is necessary. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent analytical, writing, and synthesis skills, knowledge of the humanitarian sector, and familiarity with the humanitarian context in DRC, which is desirable but not essential. Strong planning, anticipation, and organizational skills are also required.

Educational Background:
A higher education degree in Political Science, International Relations, International Development, or an equivalent field is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that candidates have the necessary theoretical knowledge and understanding of the complexities involved in humanitarian work and international development.

Experience:
Candidates should have a first experience in the humanitarian sector, particularly in a similar role. This experience is crucial as it provides candidates with practical knowledge of the challenges and dynamics of working in humanitarian contexts, especially in regions affected by conflict and instability. Experience in donor reporting and project management is particularly valuable.

Languages:
Fluency in French is essential for this position, while proficiency in English is desirable. The ability to communicate effectively in both languages is important for coordinating with international teams and stakeholders, as well as for reporting and documentation purposes.

  • The salary is based on experience, starting from EUR 2035 gross per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 1850 plus a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly, along with a monthly per diem of USD 80
  • Solidarités International covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the place of assignment. A break system is in place, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, with an additional day of rest for each month worked. Expatriates receive comprehensive health insurance covering all medical expenses, including dental and ophthalmological care, repatriation, and necessary vaccinations. Living conditions in Goma have deteriorated due to security issues, but housing remains good, with private rooms and bathrooms available in guest houses, access to quality food, and opportunities for social life. Regular field missions are expected in Ituri, Grand and Petit Nord Kivu, and potentially other areas.
