Job Overview:
The position of Data Analyst for the Cities Program at WRI involves integrating equity into the work of the organization while reporting to the Global Lead of the Project Management Office (PPMO). The role requires managing network-wide monitoring, data analysis, and reporting on project and program performance. The Data Analyst will be responsible for designing reports and online platforms to monitor and evaluate various aspects of international work, implementing processes to gather and manage project data, and authoring tools and dashboards to communicate insights to leadership. This position offers the opportunity to work with limited oversight, proactively propose recommendations, and contribute to the strategic vision of program monitoring work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Data Analyst will engage in several key activities:
  • System and Tool Design, Development, and Maintenance (50%): Propose and operationalize systems for automating data extraction and integration, design and maintain datasets, and develop automated data pipelines using Python or R.
  • Business Analytics and Insights (30%): Coordinate with global teams to analyze project management data, develop tailored tools and visualization dashboards, and propose improvements for data analytics processes.
  • Program and Project Management Support (15%): Improve programmatic processes, conduct data analysis and after-action reviews, and design data collection and visualization for impact evaluation.
  • Staff Management and Training (5%): Lead onboarding sessions on programmatic tools and reporting processes for staff across the network.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a completed bachelor’s degree in a related field such as non-profit project management, business administration, engineering, information technology, or data science. Relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree. Additionally, candidates should have 5+ years of experience in performance management, programmatic monitoring, or nonprofit operations, with demonstrated expertise in statistics and data project management.

Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant area is required, with fields including but not limited to project management, business administration, engineering, information technology, computer science, and statistics. Relevant work experience can substitute for formal education.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in performance management, programmatic monitoring and evaluation, or nonprofit operations. Experience in conducting data projects from design to communication, as well as familiarity with data management and validation processes, is essential. Proficiency in Python for data automation and experience with data visualization tools are also required.

Languages:
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages such as Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, Turkish, or Chinese is considered a plus, enhancing the candidate's profile for the position.

Additional Notes:
This is a hybrid position requiring 8 days per month in the office located in Mexico City. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application, as WRI cannot sponsor visa work authorization. The salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
