The position involves the digital submission of the Passive Cooling Guidelines, which will be a comprehensive document exceeding 50 pages. The consultant will play a crucial role in developing these guidelines specifically tailored for hot and tropical climates, ensuring that they are practical and effective in enhancing energy efficiency and reducing electricity costs. The consultant will collaborate closely with the UNEP/Cool Coalition and the Passive Cooling Working Group, engaging with global experts to enrich the content of the guidelines. The work is expected to be home-based and will span a duration of five months, requiring regular updates and progress reports to the project manager to ensure adherence to timelines and quality standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's primary duties will include researching and compiling information on passive cooling strategies, drafting the guidelines document, and ensuring that the content is relevant and applicable to the target audience. The consultant will need to engage in consultations with experts in the field of passive cooling, gather insights, and incorporate feedback into the guidelines. Additionally, the consultant will be responsible for ensuring that the guidelines address all phases of building design, construction, and operation, thereby maximizing the benefits of passive cooling solutions. Regular communication with the UNEP project manager and adherence to project timelines will be essential components of the role.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in architecture, engineering, or building physics. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. A Ph.D. in a related field is considered an asset. Furthermore, a minimum of two years of professional experience is required, particularly in areas related to the buildings and construction sector, climate change, energy efficiency, and sustainable finance. Experience working with international organizations is highly desirable, as is a minimum of two years of experience specifically in passive cooling research or design/construction.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as architecture, engineering, or building physics. Candidates with a first-level university degree may still qualify if they have additional relevant experience. A Ph.D. in sustainable buildings and construction is advantageous and may enhance a candidate's application.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in fields related to buildings and construction, climate change, energy efficiency, and sustainable finance. Candidates should have a proven track record in passive cooling research or practical experience in design and construction.
