Job Overview: The Renewable Thermal Collaborative (RTC) Intern position is designed for individuals who are passionate about sustainability and climate action. The intern will work under the guidance of the Senior Program Officer for Climate and Renewable Energy, contributing to research and communication efforts that support the RTC's mission of scaling renewable thermal energy solutions. This role provides an opportunity to engage with industry leaders and stakeholders, gaining valuable insights into the intersection of clean energy and industrial decarbonization. Interns will be expected to conduct research, analyze complex information, and develop communication materials that highlight renewable thermal energy solutions, thereby playing a crucial role in advancing WWF's climate and energy strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for conducting thorough research on renewable thermal energy solutions, synthesizing and analyzing information to create knowledge products, and preparing both internal and external communications materials. This includes topics related to industrial decarbonization, international markets, electrification, and utility incentives. Additionally, the intern will support cross-functional collaboration with RTC partners to enhance the deployment of renewable thermal energy solutions. The role requires effective communication and project management skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that all tasks align with the overarching goals of the RTC.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be currently enrolled in a graduate program, with preferred fields of study including sustainability management, environmental policy, energy systems, environmental science, economics, or related disciplines. Knowledge in renewable thermal energy, energy markets and policy, corporate sustainability, or industrial decarbonization is advantageous. The ideal candidate should possess excellent research and writing skills, strong organizational abilities, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders. Educational Background: A graduate-level education is required for this internship, with a focus on fields related to sustainability, environmental science, energy systems, or similar disciplines. Candidates should have a strong academic background that supports their understanding of the complexities surrounding renewable energy and climate change.
Experience: While specific prior experience is not mandated, any relevant internships, volunteer work, or academic projects related to sustainability, energy systems, or environmental policy will be beneficial. The intern should demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and a willingness to engage with complex topics in the field of renewable energy and industrial decarbonization.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, as all communications and research will be conducted in this language. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, particularly if they relate to international markets or stakeholders involved in renewable thermal energy solutions.
Additional Notes: This internship can be conducted either in-person at WWF’s Washington, DC office or remotely, providing flexibility for candidates. Summer interns are expected to commit to at least 35 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks, while fall interns should be available for at least 20 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks. The start and end dates for the internship are negotiable. Compensation for this position is set at $22.50 per hour, and the internship can be structured as either a paid position or for academic credit, depending on the candidate's needs.
