Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position focuses on the project 'H2-diplo - Decarbonization Diplomacy' under the International Climate Initiative. This initiative supports partner countries in collaboration with the German Foreign Office and German embassies, aiming to demonstrate pathways for these countries to decarbonize and diversify their economies using green hydrogen and its derivatives. Interns will have the opportunity to gain insights into country-specific work, organize national and international events, provide political advice to a federal ministry, and engage in discussions related to energy foreign policy, the global hydrogen market, and international climate protection policy.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will assist the team in Germany and country offices with a variety of tasks. Responsibilities include conducting research and analysis on relevant topics, supporting the organization and execution of national and international events and dialogue formats, preparing discussion materials, commentaries, concept papers, status reports, speaking points, and communication materials. Additionally, interns will help compile information for monitoring, knowledge management, and reporting, as well as contribute to the communication efforts of the project within internal and external networks. General organizational and project management tasks will also be part of the role, such as drafting meeting notes and preparing for internal meetings.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should be currently enrolled in or have recently completed studies in political science, economics, engineering, geography, regional sciences, or comparable academic qualifications. They should have initial experience in the energy sector, foreign policy, or international cooperation, and be familiar with key political and economic developments and challenges related to the German and global energy transition. Ideally, candidates will have knowledge in the field of hydrogen, strong organizational and communication skills, and a service-oriented mindset. Independent and solution-oriented work, as well as teamwork and collegial interaction, are essential.
Educational Background: A background in political science, economics, engineering, geography, regional sciences, or similar fields is required. Candidates must be currently enrolled in a study program that includes an internship or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
Experience: Candidates should have some initial experience in the energy sector, foreign policy, or international cooperation. Familiarity with the political and economic landscape of the energy transition in Germany and globally is preferred, along with any specific knowledge related to hydrogen.
Languages: Fluent language skills in German and English are mandatory. Proficiency in an additional language is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's profile for this position.
