Job Overview: The NutritionProgramme Officer position at WFP is designed to contribute to the development and implementation of nutrition projects and activities that align with broader nutrition policies and guidance. The officer will support the design and oversee the implementation of Nutrition, Social Protection, and School Meals Programmes within designated area offices, ensuring that these initiatives are in line with WFP strategies and national priorities. Duties and Responsibilities: The Nutrition Programme Officer will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: contributing to the development of nutrition projects and activities; supporting the design and implementation of Nutrition, Social Protection, and School Meals Programmes; defining appropriate programme responses based on needs assessments; aligning Social Protection activities with national frameworks; coordinating with government institutions for joint planning and implementation; monitoring programme implementation for adherence to standards; providing technical support to WFP staff and partners; ensuring programme quality through field visits and data analysis; promoting best practices in programme implementation; identifying opportunities for synergies between different programmes; establishing strong working relationships with stakeholders; participating in coordination meetings; conducting needs assessments to identify capacity gaps; coordinating with the Country Capacity Strengthening team; developing and implementing a comprehensive Human Capacity Development plan; organizing training workshops and coaching sessions; monitoring programme effectiveness; tracking programme indicators; contributing to the development of programme reports and annual work plans; and preparing regular progress reports on programme implementation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in nutrition, public health, food systems, social sciences, or related fields. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training may be accepted. The position requires at least one year of relevant experience in nutrition programme implementation, public health, or food security activities, preferably in a humanitarian context. Candidates with a first university degree must have a minimum of two years of relevant experience. Strong analytical, coordination, and communication skills are essential, along with a solid understanding of nutrition in emergencies and knowledge of social protection and human capital development.
