Job Overview:
The Human Resources Assistant will play a crucial role in the Staffing Team, providing support throughout the staffing process from advertising vacancies to selection. This position requires a strategic approach to recruitment, ensuring that diversity and gender parity are prioritized. The incumbent will facilitate job advertisements, determine applicant eligibility, and support hiring managers in developing assessments. The role also involves maintaining HR databases, preparing reports, and assisting with onboarding processes. The assistant will be expected to conduct research on HR-related issues and contribute to the development of staffing initiatives and policies. The position demands a proactive approach to client service, ensuring that hiring offices receive the necessary support and guidance throughout the recruitment process.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Human Resources Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: acting as a strategic business partner to hiring offices, facilitating job advertisements, determining applicant eligibility, supporting outreach efforts for job openings, monitoring gender and geographic distribution, assisting in the development of assessments, maintaining HR databases, preparing documentation for distribution, conducting research on HR issues, onboarding staff, advising on procedures and entitlements, collecting and analyzing data, training new staff, and performing other work-related duties as required. The role requires a strong focus on client orientation, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A first-level university degree or higher is preferred, which can reduce the required work experience from seven years to five years. The position requires a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible work experience in human resources management or a related area. Experience with recruitment Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) systems, such as inspira, is essential. Candidates should also have experience in recruitment, administration of staff, and conducting outreach for diversity. Familiarity with data analysis and report preparation is desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a high school diploma or equivalent. However, candidates with a first-level university degree or higher will have a competitive advantage, as this will reduce the required years of experience needed for the role.

Experience:
The role requires a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible work experience in human resources management or a related area. For candidates with a first-level university degree or higher, the required experience is reduced to five years. Relevant experience should include work with recruitment ERP systems and direct involvement in recruitment and personnel administration. Experience in serving field-based operations within the United Nations system or similar international organizations is also desirable, along with experience in conducting outreach for diversity and preparing analytical reports.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another United Nations official language, such as French, is considered an advantage and may enhance a candidate's profile.
