Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is located in the Division for Gender Affairs at ECLAC in Santiago, Chile. The internship is expected to last between 4 to 6 months, depending on the needs of the office. The intern will work under the supervision of the Senior Social Affairs Officer and will assist in research and organizational activities related to the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the relaunch of the Gender Equality Observatory. The role involves contributing to various tasks such as drafting communications, systematizing databases, preparing materials for websites, and supporting the organization of meetings. This position is ideal for individuals interested in gender equality and social issues, providing a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in a UN setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: reviewing documents related to gender affairs, collecting and analyzing information pertinent to gender equality, updating databases and websites, attending and organizing meetings and events, taking notes during these meetings, preparing draft presentations, and conducting data analysis on gender equality and women's autonomy. The intern will also be expected to contribute to the preparation of materials and inputs for the Gender Equality Observatory and assist in the overall organization of the Regional Conference on Women.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements: be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent), or be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent or higher). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to gender affairs or social sciences is necessary. Additionally, applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Excel, and MS Teams. Relevant knowledge of gender equality and social sciences, as well as international relations, is desirable.

Educational Background:
The basic educational requirement for this internship is a high school diploma. However, applicants must also be enrolled in or have completed a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or completion must be provided with the application. The internship is particularly suited for students in their final year of study or those who have recently graduated, as it offers practical experience in a professional setting.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework related to gender affairs, social sciences, or international relations. Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for this internship, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of Portuguese is considered desirable, and familiarity with any additional official UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.
