Job Overview: The Hub Coordinator for Humanitarian Response will play a crucial role in facilitating and ensuring effective coordination and operational support for UNFPA's humanitarian programming in the Kharkiv region. This position requires a proactive approach to managing and coordinating humanitarian efforts, ensuring the timely delivery of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and gender-based violence (GBV) services. The incumbent will work under the guidance of the UNFPA Representative and collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including local authorities and humanitarian partners, to address urgent humanitarian needs and improve the overall response to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. The role emphasizes the importance of strategic planning, communication, and partnership building to enhance the effectiveness of UNFPA's interventions in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Hub Coordinator will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: supporting UNFPA's engagement as a key humanitarian actor; strengthening coordination and partnerships with local authorities and other partners; participating in various coordination meetings; identifying opportunities for referrals and partnerships; coordinating the UNFPA team in the Kharkiv Hub; assisting in the implementation of humanitarian interventions; monitoring ongoing UNFPA interventions and identifying areas for improvement; collaborating with security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security officers to ensure staff safety; preparing external communication materials; facilitating inter-agency working groups; and contributing to progress reporting and documentation. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of humanitarian operations and the ability to navigate complex situations effectively.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong management, coordination, and program development skills, with a proven track record of building strategic alliances and partnerships. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and networking abilities, strong organizational skills, and appropriate decision-making capabilities. Knowledge of UN humanitarian relief operations and prior experience in the region or with UNFPA is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to UNFPA's values and principles, including integrity, cultural diversity, and accountability.
Educational Background: An advanced degree in Humanitarian Assistance, Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of humanitarian response and the specific needs of vulnerable populations in crisis situations.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in humanitarian affairs, emergency relief management, or public health, with at least four years at the international level. This experience should include proven management and coordination skills, as well as a strong understanding of humanitarian operations and the ability to work effectively in challenging environments.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in Ukrainian, Russian, or Slovakian is considered an asset, as it will enhance communication and collaboration with local partners and stakeholders in the Kharkiv region.
