Job Posting Organization:
The United Nations Department of Operational Support (DOS) was established to provide operational advisory services to various entities across the Secretariat, including departments, offices away from headquarters, field missions, and regional commissions. The DOS aims to enhance operational capacities and support start-up, surge, and transition requirements. The organization oversees a range of specialized operational capacities and coordinates relationships with key partners, including regional organizations and governments. The Triangular Partnership Programme (TPP) is a significant initiative under DOS that focuses on enhancing peacekeeping capabilities and involves collaboration with Member States and Troop-Contributing Countries (TCCs).

Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is part of the Triangular Partnership Programme (TPP) within the Support Partnerships Service (SPS) of the Division for Special Activities (DSA) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The intern will work under the guidance of professional staff and will be involved in various projects that aim to make a significant impact within the Department of Operational Support. The role includes supporting information management, meetings, reporting, and coordination within designated areas. Interns will have the opportunity to undertake projects such as articles, interviews, and presentations, which will be aligned with the Programme's requirements. This internship is designed to provide valuable experience and insights into the workings of the United Nations, while also contributing to the mission of enhancing peacekeeping capabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's responsibilities will include assisting in the organization of substantive materials related to TPP engagements, collecting and consolidating information on TPP trainings, preparing briefing information, and developing records of meetings and action items. The intern will also support the planning and coordination of TPP Engineering and Medical trainings, assist in the preparation of background documents, and provide research support for high-level engagements. Additionally, the intern will draft and edit correspondence, manage day-to-day activities of the team, prepare data models and surveys, and support public relations activities, including social media and article writing. Other ad-hoc duties may be assigned as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent). The field of study must be closely related to the internship. Good knowledge of standard software applications, specifically MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Canva is required. The ability to draft news articles and social media posts is also necessary. A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is essential, as well as the ability to work in an international or culturally diverse environment.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be enrolled in a graduate program or in the final year of their undergraduate studies, with a focus on fields relevant to the internship. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required, and the field of study should align closely with the responsibilities of the internship.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandated, candidates should demonstrate familiarity with the functions of the United Nations and possess skills relevant to the internship tasks. Experience in research, writing, and coordination in a multicultural environment is advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset. English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, and proficiency in these languages will enhance the intern's ability to perform effectively in the role.
