Job Overview: The Communications Officer for the K-Hub will play a crucial role in supporting the communication strategies and activities of the World Bank's Knowledge Hub in Saudi Arabia. This position requires a dynamic communications professional who can effectively manage a wide range of communication functions, including planning, designing, and executing communication strategies that align with the Hub's business objectives. The officer will be responsible for creating high-quality outreach products, managing media relations, and fostering strategic partnerships to enhance the visibility and impact of the K-Hub's initiatives. The role demands collaboration with various stakeholders, including government entities and external partners, to ensure effective communication and dissemination of knowledge related to the K-Hub's focus areas, such as competitiveness and diversification.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Communications Officer will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including:
Collaborating with the K-Hub team to plan and execute communication strategies that support the Hub's objectives.
Preparing a variety of outreach products, such as press releases, newsletters, social media content, and presentations, to effectively communicate the K-Hub's activities and initiatives.
Managing media relations by responding to inquiries, pitching stories, and organizing press briefings to promote the K-Hub's work.
Creating engaging multimedia content to enhance the Hub's online presence and outreach efforts.
Building and maintaining strategic relationships with key stakeholders to foster dialogue and promote understanding of the K-Hub's mission.
Supporting program teams in communications for K-Hub events and high-level international gatherings.
Monitoring trends and news that may impact the K-Hub's work and advising teams on strategic responses.
Coordinating with external consultants and vendors for communications support as needed.
Ensuring timely management of website content in accordance with World Bank policies.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Communications Officer position should possess the following qualifications:
A Master's degree in a relevant field such as journalism, media communication, development, or political affairs, along with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
Proven experience in strategic communication planning and branding, particularly in a multicultural context.
Strong media relations skills, including experience in preparing spokespeople for media engagement and managing reputational risks.
Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to draft complex communications products for diverse audiences.
Familiarity with online and social media management, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and knowledge of CMS tools.
Experience in event management and familiarity with World Bank operations or similar international organizations is advantageous.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have a Master's degree in a relevant field, such as journalism, media communication, development, political affairs, or business. This educational background should be complemented by practical experience in communications, media relations, or related areas, demonstrating a strong understanding of strategic communication principles and practices.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in communications, media relations, or a related field. Candidates should have a proven track record of successfully managing communication strategies and initiatives, particularly in a global or multicultural context. Experience working with government entities or international organizations on development projects is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position, as effective communication in both languages is essential for engaging with diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in French is considered a plus, as it may enhance the candidate's ability to communicate with a broader audience.
