IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all, providing services and advice to governments, the private sector, and migrants. The IOM Fiji Country Office with Coordination Function (COCF) covers nine countries: Fiji, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, Tokelau, Tuvalu, Samoa, Niue, and Cook Islands, focusing on various migration-related projects and initiatives.

Job Overview:
The Intern position at IOM Fiji COCF is designed to provide support in Media and Communications for the Pacific Climate Change, Migration and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Human Security (PCCMHS) project. The intern will work closely with the Senior Communications and Media Assistant and the Programme Officer to enhance the visibility and outreach of the PCCMHS project through various media channels. This role is crucial in ensuring that the project's objectives are communicated effectively to stakeholders, including donors and partners, and that the IOM's work in the Pacific region is well-represented across digital platforms. The intern will gain hands-on experience in media relations, content creation, and digital communication strategies, contributing to the overall mission of IOM in promoting sustainable migration practices in the context of climate change.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting the Senior Communications and Media Assistant in managing media and communication activities for the COCF; curating and maintaining online platforms such as the IOM website and social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube); assisting in the production of high-quality video content and digital information products related to IOM's work; maintaining the Fiji COCF SharePoint platform and other internal communication tools; producing and disseminating monthly updates for the PCCMHS project; assisting in media relations and event management; supporting the maintenance and upgrade of the regional office website; providing general administrative support to the Senior Communications and Media Assistant and Programme Officer; and collaborating with media counterparts across regional offices and hubs to ensure high-quality media output.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a strong interest in media and communications, particularly in the context of migration and climate change. They should demonstrate good organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms is essential, along with a basic understanding of media relations and content creation. The ideal candidate should be adaptable, proactive, and willing to learn about the IOM's mission and the specific challenges related to migration in the Pacific region.

Educational Background:
A background in communications, media studies, international relations, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should be currently enrolled in or have recently completed a degree program in one of these areas. Relevant coursework or experience in digital media, public relations, or communications strategies will be advantageous.

Experience:
While prior experience in a similar role is not mandatory, any internships or volunteer work related to media, communications, or migration issues will be considered a plus. The intern should be eager to learn and develop their skills in a professional environment, contributing to the IOM's objectives while gaining valuable experience in the field of migration and climate change.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in the Pacific region, such as Fijian or Hindi, would be considered an asset, enhancing the intern's ability to engage with diverse communities and stakeholders.
