Job Overview: This internship is situated within the Outreach Division of the Department of Global Communications, specifically in the NGO Relations, Advocacy and Special Events Section. The role focuses on supporting the UN's Creative Community Outreach Initiative (CCOI) and the Messenger of Peace (MOP) Programme. The CCOI aims to foster partnerships with the global entertainment industry, while the MOP Programme coordinates advocacy efforts involving UN Messengers of Peace. Interns will engage in various activities that support these initiatives, including project support, social media monitoring, event planning, and content creation. Duties and Responsibilities: Interns may be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including: providing support for projects with external partners in entertainment or sports; drafting background materials and taking meeting notes; monitoring social media activities related to the Messengers of Peace; assisting in the planning and organization of special events and filming projects at UN Headquarters; drafting and editing content for the team's websites; and processing applications for the Football for the Goals membership. These duties require strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Candidates should also possess good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams, and have the ability to draft emails and publications, as well as knowledge of social media.
Educational Background: Candidates must be students in their final year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or completion will be required during the application process. The educational background should ideally be in a field related to communications, international relations, or a similar discipline that aligns with the responsibilities of the internship.
Experience: While no professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic experience or involvement in projects related to communications, advocacy, or event planning. Experience in social media management or content creation is also beneficial, as it aligns with the duties expected of the interns.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an advantage and may enhance a candidate's application.
