Job Overview:
The internship at the Innovation and Analytics Hub within the OHCHR offers a unique opportunity for motivated individuals to engage in meaningful projects that contribute to the analysis of global human rights trends. Interns will work closely with full-time professional staff and will be involved in various workstreams that focus on strategic coordination, digital technology, risk analysis, and global analytics. The Hub utilizes advanced methodologies and technologies, including artificial intelligence, to enhance human rights analysis and support early warning and monitoring efforts. Interns are expected to commit to a full-time schedule for a minimum of three months, with the possibility of remote work depending on individual circumstances. This internship provides valuable insights into the workings of the UN system and the chance to make a lasting impact on human rights initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be assigned to one or more of the following workstreams: 1) Strategic Coordination and Planning, where they will assist in organizing strategic planning meetings, drafting materials for outreach activities, and supporting the establishment of a Community of Practice on data and analytics. 2) Digital Technology, Data and Innovation, where they will contribute to the planning and implementation of digital transformation projects, assist in developing data analytics tools, and provide technical support for digital platforms. 3) Risk Analysis and Early Warning, where they will monitor emerging human rights risks, contribute to risk assessments, and assist in preparing briefings on risk analysis. 4) Global Analytics and Field Support, where they will help collect and analyze data from field offices, develop analytics reports, and provide training on data analytics and reporting. Interns will be expected to engage actively in their assigned projects and collaborate with team members to achieve the Hub's objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet specific academic qualifications to be eligible for the United Nations Internship Program. They should either be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (such as a master's degree or Ph.D.) or be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level). Candidates are encouraged to specify their interest in one of the workstreams when applying, as relevant fields of study vary by workstream. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills are desirable, along with a keen interest in human rights and data analytics.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship varies depending on the workstream. For Strategic Coordination and Planning, relevant fields include Political Science, Communication, Business Management, and Public Administration. For Digital Technology, Data and Innovation, fields such as Computer Science, Information Technology, and Data Science are relevant. For Risk Analysis and Early Warning, candidates should have backgrounds in International Relations, Law, or Social Sciences. Familiarity with additional UN languages such as Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish would also be beneficial, as the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat include English and French.
