Job Overview:
The Isotope Hydrologist will be a key member of the project management team within the IAEA's Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications. This role involves formulating and implementing research and development activities and technical cooperation projects that utilize isotope applications in water resource management. The Isotope Hydrologist will work closely with senior colleagues to contribute to research and development efforts, plan and conduct technical training, and support Member States in sustainable water resource management. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying research gaps and proposing innovative solutions to enhance the effectiveness of the water resources programme.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Isotope Hydrologist will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing internal and external research publications related to isotope applications in hydrology, identifying research gaps, and formulating ideas for future research. The role includes formulating and implementing technical cooperation projects with guidance from senior Isotope Hydrologists, planning and organizing seminars, workshops, missions, and training courses, and preparing materials for publication in relevant scientific journals. Additionally, the Isotope Hydrologist will suggest research and development approaches in conjunction with laboratory activities and contribute to the overall objectives of the Isotope Hydrology Section.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Hydrology, geosciences, natural resources management, or related disciplines, with a proven background in the application of isotope techniques for water resources development and management. An advanced university degree is considered an asset. Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant experience at the national or international level in water resources management and the use of isotope techniques, as well as experience in water resources management research.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's Degree in Hydrology, geosciences, natural resources management, or related fields. An advanced degree is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in water resources management and the application of isotope techniques, preferably at both national and international levels. Experience in conducting research related to water resources management is essential for this role.

Languages:
Excellent oral and written command of English is mandatory. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.

Additional Notes:
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $55,163, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance. Additional benefits include a variable post adjustment, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses, six weeks of annual leave, home leave travel, a pension plan, and health insurance.
