Job Posting Organization: The People and Culture Group (PCG) at UNOPS is dedicated to fostering a positive culture and working environment that aligns with the organization's strategic goals. Established to support the implementation of UN core values and standards, PCG develops tailored People & Culture policies, systems, and platforms. The group aims to create an optimal working environment where personnel can thrive and perform at their best to fulfill UNOPS' mission. The HR Advisory Team within PCG provides essential support to field offices and headquarters, offering expert guidance on HR policy and addressing complex HR challenges. They also drive capacity-building initiatives, including the HR Knowledge Base, which is a resource developed from frequently asked questions to assist HR practitioners globally. The team is continuously evolving, with ongoing initiatives such as a monthly newsletter featuring video-based learning and automation projects utilizing machine learning to analyze HR case management trends. Collaboration with the data team for reporting and analysis requests is also a key aspect of their work.
Job Overview: The HR Intern role is designed to support the execution and delivery of HR efficiency projects across the UNOPS HR population. The intern will manage project tasks independently and gain exposure to global HR operations within a UN organization. The focus will be on leveraging machine learning and AI to create predictive analyses of the ticketing and knowledge management systems, leading to operational efficiencies and risk identification. The intern will have the opportunity to build innovative and sustainable models using chosen technologies while collaborating with the product ownership team. This internship is a unique chance to learn and grow in an international work environment, and the ideal candidate should be curious, enthusiastic, and committed to bringing fresh ideas and challenging the status quo. While a background in computer science or data analytics is preferred, candidates from communication or related fields with a strong interest in AI and machine learning are also encouraged to apply. The internship is designed to be a meaningful learning experience, and prior professional experience is not required.
Duties and Responsibilities: The HR Intern will focus on two main pillars: communications and knowledge management, and data analytics. Responsibilities may include:
Knowledge Management Automation: - Elevate the knowledge management initiative using machine learning to automate the transformation of JIRA ticket content into knowledge management content. - Create automations for content updates in the knowledge base, utilizing Atlassian and Confluence properties. - Establish links between policy pages and knowledge base pages. - Document sustainable knowledge management processes, including content maintenance and updates, and video creation. - Analyze knowledge base analytics to recommend content improvements.
Video Content Automation: - Assist in developing video content, including automating video production processes and creating a visual identity for HR training materials. - Support the creation of monthly videos.
Data Analytics: - Contribute to the Data Analytics function within the HR advisory team by maintaining and improving HR advisory dashboards in Google Data Studio. - Assist in designing and analyzing surveys and reports. - Support the development of a predictive monitoring and evaluation dashboard using machine learning and AI to analyze JIRA tickets. At the end of the internship, the successful candidate will gain exposure to UNOPS HR processes, a wide range of work areas, and the opportunity to network with diverse colleagues in the UN City in Copenhagen.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong computer literacy, including advanced skills in Excel/Google Sheets, PowerPoint/Google Slides, Word/Google Docs, and ideally video editing software. While no prior work experience is required, some experience in HR, knowledge management, communications, or data analytics is considered an asset. Competency in content development, storytelling, and drafting is desirable, as is experience in using and creating dashboards in visualization tools such as Google Sheets or Google Data Studio.
Educational Background: Candidates must have completed secondary school or equivalent and must be studying towards a university degree or have graduated within the past three years to be eligible for this internship with UNOPS.
Experience: While prior professional experience is not required, any experience in HR, knowledge management, communications, or data analytics would be beneficial. Strong computer literacy is essential, and familiarity with data visualization tools is an asset.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of another UN language, such as French or Spanish, will be considered an asset.
Additional Notes: This internship is a remunerated position with an initial duration of six months, with the possibility of extension for an additional six months based on performance and funding availability.
