Job Overview: The Consultant will play a crucial role in developing a scaling strategy for WASH innovation within the UNICEF WASH Hub. This involves outlining approaches and pathways to scale transformative solutions through consultations with various stakeholders, including UNICEF country offices and key sector actors. The consultant will consolidate the current scaling approach, review it against best practices, and develop a comprehensive Scaling Strategy that incorporates pathways for different types of innovations. Additionally, the consultant will create templates for scaling pathways and provide case studies demonstrating the scaling process for selected solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Consolidate and document the current scaling approach of the WASH Hub.
Review the existing approach in light of best practices and develop an overarching Scaling Strategy.
Incorporate pathways to scale for various types of innovations, including system strengthening and technical approaches.
Develop templates for scaling pathways that identify key elements necessary for successful scaling.
Analyze opportunities, challenges, and constraints related to scaling.
Provide case studies using two current portfolio solutions, detailing the vision, milestones, risks, and considerations for scaling each project solution.
Required Qualifications:
An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in WASH, entrepreneurship, business administration, strategic management, or a relevant field.
A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in innovation or supporting investments in a portfolio approach to reach defined scale.
Experience implementing strategic change within complex systems.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in fields related to WASH, entrepreneurship, business administration, or strategic management. Alternatively, a first University Degree in a relevant field combined with additional professional experience may be accepted.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in innovation or supporting investments aimed at achieving ambitious scale. Candidates should have demonstrable experience in strategy development and implementing strategic changes within organizations, especially in complex systems.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset. Relevant experience at the country level, particularly in development and humanitarian contexts, is also desirable.
Additional Notes: The payment of professional fees will be based on the submission of agreed deliverables.
