Job Overview:
The UN Youth Volunteer will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Programme in Mozambique. This position involves providing assistance to programme staff on key accelerators such as innovation, multi-stakeholder coordination, and resource mobilization. The volunteer will focus on two main projects: the Health Improvements for Mothers, Neonates, and Adolescents in Niassa Province (HIMNA) and the initiative to increase the use of modern family planning methods among vulnerable women. The volunteer will be responsible for supporting the overall management of these projects, ensuring that they meet their objectives and contribute to improving sexual and reproductive health outcomes in the country. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of the SRH programme.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Youth Volunteer will undertake a variety of tasks under the direct supervision of the SRH team leader, including:
  • Programme management support: - Assist in the implementation of the SRH programme, including budget analysis, monitoring project progress, and reporting on interventions. - Handle general administrative duties such as fund allocation, reviewing e-FACEs, and organizing meetings and logistics for events. - Initiate procurement requests for emergency commodities and ensure compliance with UNFPA procurement procedures. - Maintain records of donor agreements, project timelines, and milestones. - Compile lessons learned and best practices to inform future programming and advocacy efforts.
  • Monitoring and reporting: - Analyze data to identify trends in needs and vulnerabilities, and compile reports on program progress and challenges. - Prepare updates for the country office, including humanitarian situation reports for donors and partners.
  • Resource mobilization: - Support resource mobilization efforts by providing inputs to donor reports, taking minutes during donor meetings, and assisting in the development of new proposals. - Perform any other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong analytical and organizational skills, with a commitment to the values and principles of the United Nations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic work environment, along with the ability to build trust and work effectively in teams. Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in public health, social sciences, international development, or a related field is required. Candidates with advanced degrees or specialized training in reproductive health or related areas will be given preference. Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health issues, particularly in the context of developing countries, is highly desirable.

Experience:
Candidates should have some experience in project management, monitoring and evaluation, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or in the public health sector will be an advantage. Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities in the field of sexual and reproductive health in Mozambique or similar contexts is also beneficial. The ability to work in a multicultural environment and engage with diverse stakeholders is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory, as it is the official language of Mozambique. Proficiency in English is also highly desirable, particularly for communication in business and academic settings. Knowledge of additional local languages may be an asset, especially for community engagement activities.

This position is a full-time role based in Mozambique, specifically in the capital city of Maputo. The UN Youth Volunteer will be part of a vibrant international community and will have the opportunity to work in a national context while contributing to significant health initiatives.
