Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks aimed at facilitating the effective communication and coordination of UNODC's law enforcement initiatives. Key duties include:
Assisting in the implementation of law enforcement section activities in the region, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and effectively.
Contributing to the creation of various written outputs, such as narrative reports, background documents, presentations, briefing notes, summaries, talking points, and speeches, which are essential for internal and external communication.
Supporting the design and formatting of communication materials for meetings and conferences, ensuring that all materials are professional and aligned with UNODC's standards.
Translating country fiches, talking points, briefing notes, and speeches for field missions, meetings, and conferences, as well as drafting minutes of meetings when required.
Providing design support across a range of print and online products, enhancing the visual communication of UNODC's initiatives.
Liaising with relevant stakeholders and colleagues to collect data and information related to implemented activities, fostering collaboration and information sharing within the organization.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following qualifications: (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). It is essential that applicants provide official written proof from their university supporting their eligibility. Additionally, candidates should be computer literate in standard software applications and demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, along with a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter. The ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs is also crucial, as is a willingness to understand and tolerate differing opinions and views. An advanced university degree (Master's) in law, international relations, administration, management, or communication is considered an asset.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent, with a preference for those who have completed or are enrolled in a graduate program. The educational background should ideally be in fields related to law, international relations, administration, management, or communication, as these areas are directly relevant to the work of UNODC and the responsibilities of the internship position.
Experience: While specific prior experience is not mandated, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to its ideals.
