Job Overview:
The consultant will play a crucial role in analyzing and systematizing information necessary for developing conceptual and methodological tools aimed at integrating a gender perspective into public policies. This position involves supporting the preparation of a conceptual framework and analyzing gender gaps in the design and implementation of public policies. Additionally, the consultant will assist in creating analytical inputs regarding economic policies with a gender perspective for substantive documents produced by the Gender Affairs Division of ECLAC, in line with the Regional Gender Agenda. The work is expected to be conducted remotely, allowing for flexibility while ensuring effective collaboration with various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and systematize background information on conceptual and methodological tools for training on integrating a gender perspective into public policies.
  • Develop training materials and inputs regarding the conceptual framework and tools for analyzing gender gaps in public policy design, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance of Chile.
  • Create documents and analytical inputs on economic policies with a gender perspective for countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Participate in virtual work meetings with the Gender Affairs Division team and counterparts from government and the United Nations system, ensuring effective communication and collaboration throughout the project.

Required Qualifications:
• Education: Required: A university degree in social sciences, economics, or related fields. Desirable: A postgraduate degree or master's in economics or gender studies. • Experience: Required: At least 3 years of experience in research related to gender equality issues. Desirable: Experience in academic research on gender mainstreaming in economic policies in Latin American and Caribbean countries. • Skills: Strong analytical skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively, and proficiency in developing training materials and conducting research.

Educational Background:
The position requires a university degree in social sciences, economics, or a related field as a minimum qualification. A postgraduate degree or master's in economics or gender studies is highly desirable, indicating a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding gender issues in economic contexts.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in research focused on gender equality issues. This experience should ideally include academic research on the integration of gender perspectives in economic policies, particularly within the context of Latin America and the Caribbean, showcasing the candidate's ability to contribute effectively to the role.

Languages:
Proficiency in Spanish and English is required for this position, as the consultant will need to communicate effectively in both languages. Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable, which would enhance the candidate's ability to engage with a broader range of stakeholders and resources.
