Job Overview: The Programme Analyst, Population and Data Management for Policy and Services plays a crucial role in assisting the development and implementation of the UNFPA country programme in Peru. This position focuses on population issues and their relationship to development, as well as data and evidence management. The analyst will report to the Assistant Representative and will be responsible for strengthening the country office's capacity to analyze demographic, political, social, and economic trends. This role is vital for ensuring compliance with established procedures and for enhancing the generation, processing, analysis, and use of data through innovative technologies such as data science and artificial intelligence. The Programme Analyst will contribute to the formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programs and projects, ensuring that they align with UNFPA's strategic objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Analyst will support the effective management of UNFPA activities, coordinating with relevant actors in population and development areas. Key responsibilities include analyzing and proposing the use of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) data, preparing documents for public policy formulation, and providing innovative approaches using data science. The analyst will manage UNFPA's population and development activities, participate in the formulation of the United Nations cooperation framework, and analyze the political, social, and economic environment relevant to UNFPA's work. Additionally, the analyst will contribute to advocacy efforts for national population policies, support public information meetings, and act as the focal point for monitoring and evaluation processes. The role also involves synthesizing findings and lessons learned, managing the development of the Population Situation Analysis, and fostering collaborative relationships with government counterparts and other stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in demography, population studies, statistics, epidemiology, economics, social sciences, or related fields. A Master's degree in a relevant area is preferred. Certification in data science and/or data analysis is desirable. Candidates should have a strong understanding of population dynamics and their implications for development, as well as experience in program/project management. Proven experience in designing, implementing, and analyzing population and housing censuses, national health surveys, and gender-based violence initiatives is highly desirable. Familiarity with statistical software and data analytics applications is also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as demography, population studies, statistics, epidemiology, economics, or social sciences. A Master's degree in a related discipline is preferred, as it provides a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in population and development issues.
