This includes creating easy-to-read versions, plain language adaptations, and basic visual layouts to improve readability. The volunteer will work closely with UNFPA's focal point on GBV and inclusion, participating in a structured four-week process that includes reviewing content, drafting adaptations, integrating feedback, and finalizing accessible materials. The ultimate goal is to raise awareness among women and girls with disabilities about their rights and available services, thereby contributing to the broader objectives of the UN Disability Inclusion Strategy and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creating plain language versions of the materials to facilitate understanding among diverse audiences.
  • Designing basic visual layouts or infographics to enhance the readability of the information, using icons and bullet points where appropriate.
  • Providing accessibility tips and layout suggestions for future documents to ensure ongoing inclusivity in UNFPA's materials.
  • Supporting the preparation for a training session aimed at educating organizations of people with disabilities about disability-inclusive services, which is tentatively scheduled for the end of May 202
  • This role does not require advanced visual design skills, as layout support will be available.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment and meet deadlines effectively.
  • A commitment to promoting the rights of women and girls with disabilities and a passion for social justice.

Educational Background:
A background in social sciences, communications, education, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with experience in disability advocacy, gender studies, or public health will be particularly well-suited for this role. Relevant training or certifications in accessible communication or inclusive practices will be considered an asset.

Experience:
While specific years of experience are not mandated, candidates should demonstrate relevant experience in content adaptation, accessibility practices, or working with marginalized communities. Previous volunteer experience in similar roles or organizations will be advantageous.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, as all materials will be adapted into this language. Knowledge of Uzbek or Russian is a plus, as it may enhance communication with local stakeholders and beneficiaries.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position under the UN Volunteers programme, and it is expected to be conducted remotely. The role is part-time and flexible, allowing volunteers to manage their time effectively while contributing to a meaningful cause. The duration of the assignment is four weeks, with the possibility of further engagement based on project needs and volunteer performance.
