The RBM Partnership to End Malaria is the largest global platform for coordinated action against malaria, originally established as the Roll Back Malaria (RBM) Partnership in 199
  • It mobilizes resources, fosters consensus among stakeholders, and drives strategic initiatives to accelerate malaria eradication efforts. With a diverse network of over 500 partners, including malaria-endemic countries, multilateral organizations, private sector entities, NGOs, and academic institutions, the Partnership plays a pivotal role in advancing global malaria control and elimination strategies. The organization is currently organizing the Continental Malaria Vaccine Stocktake Meeting, scheduled to take place in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from June 10–12, 2025, which will serve as a critical platform for knowledge exchange and discussions on malaria vaccine introduction and scale-up across Africa.

Job Overview:
The intern will support the RBM Partnership in various capacities, particularly in the coordination of the Continental Malaria Vaccine Stocktake Meeting. This role involves assisting in the collection of policy documents, project reports, and evaluations necessary for high-level policy discussions and strategic recommendations regarding malaria vaccine implementation. The intern will engage in preparatory activities related to the planning, execution, and follow-up of dialogues on the future of malaria, including the stocktake dialogue on malaria vaccines. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into global health initiatives and contribute to significant public health discussions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's responsibilities will include supporting the coordination of preparations for dialogues on malaria, gathering policy documents related to the deployment of malaria vaccines in 19 countries, consolidating contact lists of key stakeholders for consultations, and engaging with partners such as Gavi, WHO, and UNICEF. The intern will also assist in designing pre-read materials to ensure informed participation by stakeholders, synthesizing key learnings from malaria vaccine implementation experiences, documenting best practices in vaccine roll-out, and compiling insights and recommendations from strategic meetings. Additionally, the intern will have access to project documentation to learn about project management and development cooperation.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must be enrolled in a university program such as a Bachelor, Masters, or Ph.D. in public health, global health, international development, or a related field. While professional work experience is not required, knowledge of malaria prevention, vaccine introduction, and health policy is considered an asset. Experience in research, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement is also beneficial, along with the ability to work in a multicultural, fast-paced environment.

Educational Background:
All applicants must be currently enrolled in or have graduated from a university program within three years prior to the application date. Relevant fields of study include public health, global health, international development, or related disciplines.

Experience:
Professional work experience is not a prerequisite for this internship; however, familiarity with malaria prevention, vaccine introduction, and health policy is advantageous. Experience in research, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement will be beneficial, as well as the ability to thrive in a multicultural and dynamic environment.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is required for this position. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This internship is classified as a 4-month contract and is not intended to lead to a staff position with UNOPS. Interns may receive a monthly stipend from UNOPS, provided they do not receive funds from other institutions. UNOPS may also offer a one-time travel lump sum according to its policies. Interns are responsible for their own accommodation, travel, and visa arrangements. They are required to purchase health insurance from a Swiss provider within the first three months of the internship, with UNOPS contributing a monthly lump-sum towards this expense.
