Job Overview: The Forests, Communications Undergraduate Intern position at WWF is designed to support the WWF-US Forest team in its mission to conserve the world’s forests. This role is integral to advancing major initiatives and achieving the organization’s forest conservation goals. The intern will contribute to the team’s programmatic communications, helping to develop and write stories that highlight forest conservation efforts. The position is part of WWF's BRIDGE internship" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">summer internship program, which aims to attract talented undergraduate and graduate students who may not have extensive professional experience in conservation. The intern will work closely with the Senior Communications Specialist and will be involved in various communication strategies and projects.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for developing and writing forest-focused stories and other communications materials, including web content, blogs, team newsletters, and bios. They will collaborate with WWF’s Marketing and Communications team to publish and promote content effectively. The intern will also identify opportunities for social media engagement to highlight programmatic achievements and breaking news related to forests. Additional responsibilities include drafting social media posts, tracking engagement metrics, supporting program staff presentations by creating PowerPoint decks, and verifying forest-related facts. This role requires a proactive approach to managing projects and meeting deadlines while ensuring attention to detail in all communications.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be actively enrolled in an associate’s or bachelor’s program in journalism, public relations/communications, or conservation.
