Job Overview:
The Climate intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Communications Intern position is designed for undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in gaining practical experience in environmental communications. The intern will support the WWF team by conducting research and developing strategic content for social media channels and thematic storytelling efforts. This role involves planning and drafting engaging content that highlights key climate initiatives and aligns with WWF's organizational goals. The intern will collaborate with various teams, including the Climate Team and the Communications and Marketing Team, to ensure consistent messaging and effective communication strategies. This internship provides an opportunity to learn about social media strategy, thematic storytelling, and cross-team collaboration, while also contributing to significant climate-focused events and initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for conducting research to support WWF's social media strategy, drafting blog content focused on climate narratives, and assisting in the preparation for major climate events such as Climate Week NYC and Aspen Ideas. They will collaborate with Climate Communications and Marketing staff to ensure alignment of social media strategies across platforms. The intern will also contribute to the design and implementation of social media monitoring and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with various tasks related to storytelling and social media efforts, ensuring smooth execution of projects, and engaging in event management as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be actively enrolled in an associate's or bachelor's program in environmental science, environmental studies, communications, or marketing. While these fields are preferred, students from other disciplines are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have knowledge of environmental and climate change issues, a strong interest in social media, and the ability to create engaging posts across platforms like LinkedIn and Instagram. They should also demonstrate an interest in developing writing skills for long-form content, possess strong organizational skills, and align with WWF's core values. Familiarity with social media metrics and the ability to analyze performance to inform strategy is also required.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as environmental science, environmental studies, communications, or marketing. Candidates must be actively enrolled students and should not have received their degree by the internship start date of June 16, 2025.

Experience:
While prior professional experience is not required, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in environmental and policy issues, as well as a passion for storytelling in these areas. The internship is particularly aimed at students who have not previously had a breadth of professional experience in the conservation field.

Languages:
While no specific language requirements are mentioned, proficiency in English is mandatory for effective communication. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not explicitly required for this position.

This is a hybrid internship position that requires the intern to be present at the WWF Washington, DC Headquarters Office at least two days per week.
