Job Overview: The Programme Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the Joint Programme under Uzbekistan Vision 2030 Fund, specifically focusing on maternal and perinatal care. The Programme Assistant will assist in various programmatic activities, including the design, planning, and management of projects, while providing logistical support and monitoring the implementation of the programme. Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
Assisting in the arrangement of programme activities, including preparing documents and materials, arranging venues, and preparing presentations.
Supporting the monitoring of implementation plans and providing technical support for the review of reports.
Conducting monitoring visits and evaluation meetings as required.
Developing and updating project documents, budgets, and reports by collecting and synthesizing information.
Assisting with procurement processes in accordance with UNFPA procedures, including collecting supporting documents and preparing comparative tables.
Providing technical and logistical support for communication and awareness-raising activities, including documenting best practices and success stories.
Translating and drafting letters and other programme documents, as well as providing oral translation when needed.
Engaging in volunteerism activities and promoting the UN Volunteers programme within the community.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential, along with experience in project management and monitoring. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a commitment to the values and mission of UNFPA, with a strong understanding of sexual and reproductive health issues. Additionally, candidates should be adaptable, creative, and capable of making sound judgments and decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in public health, social sciences, international development, or a related field is required. Additional training or certifications in project management or monitoring and evaluation would be advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of relevant experience in programme support, project management, or a related field. Experience working with international organizations or in the UN system is preferred, as is familiarity with maternal and child health issues in Uzbekistan.
Languages: Fluency in English and Russian is mandatory, while knowledge of Uzbek is an asset. Strong written and verbal communication skills in these languages are essential for effective collaboration and reporting.
Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer assignment, and the volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position offers a Volunteer Living Allowance of USD 923 per month, along with additional entitlements such as an entry lump sum, travel ticket, exit allowance, and medical insurance. Leave entitlements include annual leave, sick leave, learning leave, and maternity/paternity leave. The role is full-time and requires a commitment to the UN's values and principles.
