Job Overview: The Country Representative will play a pivotal role in leading the IDB Group's efforts in the Dominican Republic. This position involves acting as the primary liaison between the IDB Group and various stakeholders, including government entities, the private sector, civil society, and international organizations. The representative will be responsible for guiding the development of the Country Strategy, ensuring alignment with the IDB Group's institutional objectives, and promoting strategic initiatives that contribute to the country's development. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for collaboration and resource mobilization, as well as overseeing the implementation of programs and projects that align with national priorities. The representative will also be tasked with fostering a culture of ethical conduct and inclusivity within the Country Office, ensuring that all operations adhere to IDB Group policies and standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Represent the IDB Group in the Dominican Republic, engaging with government officials, private sector leaders, and civil society to promote the organization's mission.
Lead the development and implementation of the Country Strategy, ensuring it aligns with the IDB Group's institutional strategy and the country's development objectives.
Manage and evaluate the performance of Country Office staff, providing guidance and support to optimize their contributions.
Develop and execute a communication strategy that enhances knowledge sharing among stakeholders.
Identify and promote public-private partnerships to achieve the IDB Group's goals.
Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of development programs and projects, ensuring they meet expected outcomes.
Mobilize resources from various partners to finance IDB Group initiatives.
Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and alignment with national priorities.
Ensure compliance with IDB Group policies and ethical standards in all operations. 1
Report on program progress and financial status to senior management, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Public Policy, Business, Economics, Law, or a related field. They should have a strong professional background with demonstrated technical competencies relevant to the position. Additionally, candidates must exhibit strong leadership skills, the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams, and excellent interpersonal skills to establish trust with stakeholders. A solid understanding of the IDB Group's culture and operations, as well as experience in multilateral development organizations, is highly desirable.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in a relevant field such as Public Policy, Business, Economics, or Law is required for this position. This educational background should provide candidates with the necessary analytical and strategic thinking skills to effectively lead the Country Office and engage with various stakeholders.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 15 years of relevant experience in leadership roles, particularly within multilateral development organizations or similar institutions. Experience in managing complex projects and programs, as well as a proven track record of building strategic relationships, is essential. For external candidates, at least three years of experience in a comparable position is required.
Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Excellent communication skills are essential to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and convey the IDB Group's mission and objectives.
Additional Notes: The position is offered as an international staff contract for an initial duration of 36 months, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement.
