Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position at UNFPA involves reviewing thematic reports generated from census data across various countries. Volunteers will work under the guidance of the UNFPA Programme Specialist for Censuses and Surveys. The primary function of this role is to analyze census thematic reports and input data into a standardized Google Form. This data will contribute to the development of thematic report templates that enhance the utility of census data for evidence-based planning and programming. Volunteers will be expected to engage with the census data critically, ensuring that the information collected is comprehensive and adheres to international statistical standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review a set of census thematic reports shared via Google Drive.
  • Fill out a Google Form to collect standardized data on various elements such as generic content, topic-specific content, gender and social inclusion, geographical disaggregation, data disaggregation, and statistical complexity.
  • Ensure that the data collected aligns with the SDGs measured and international statistical standards.
  • Apply geospatial methods where applicable and include derived index information.
  • Provide open-ended responses to capture unique elements that may not fit into categorical responses.
  • Collaborate with other volunteers and the Programme Specialist to ensure consistency and accuracy in data collection.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in data analysis and report writing.
  • Familiarity with census data and thematic reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
  • Proficiency in using Google Drive and Google Forms for data collection and analysis.

Educational Background:
A background in social sciences, statistics, demography, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have relevant academic qualifications that demonstrate their understanding of data analysis and reporting.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in data analysis, particularly with census data or similar datasets. Experience in working with international organizations or in a volunteer capacity is advantageous. Familiarity with statistical software or data visualization tools may also be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the countries being analyzed, is considered an asset but not required.

This is a remote volunteer position, and the duration of the contract is not specified. Volunteers are expected to commit to the project for a defined period, which will be communicated upon selection.
