Job Overview: The internship at the Mobility Capacity Building is designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to sustainable urban mobility initiatives. The role involves assisting in the development and implementation of capacity-building activities targeted at urban mobility practitioners and policymakers across Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, and Africa. Interns will engage in various tasks, including the conceptualization and planning of training series, organizing events, conducting research, and contributing to communication efforts. This position offers a unique opportunity to work within a global partnership that includes nearly 100 partners, focusing on scalable solutions for urban mobility challenges. Interns will gain hands-on experience in international development cooperation, particularly in the context of climate change and transport, while also enhancing their skills in project management and communication.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting in the development and implementation of capacity-building activities such as training workshops and online courses; supporting the planning and moderation of training series, including preparation of documents like invitations and agendas; organizing events related to urban mobility; conducting research and data collection on relevant topics; preparing and contributing to technical articles and guidance documents; supporting the development of communication materials; facilitating working groups with knowledge partners; and managing knowledge and information exchange within the team and with external stakeholders. This role requires a proactive approach and the ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with team members and partners.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have ongoing or recently completed university studies in fields such as transport, economics, engineering, politics, communication, urban or social sciences, or related disciplines. A strong command of both French and English is essential, while knowledge of Spanish and German is considered an asset. Familiarity with the challenges of sustainable urban mobility, particularly in the Global South, is required. Additionally, candidates should possess relevant professional experience in international development cooperation, especially in climate change and urban mobility, along with strong organizational skills and a commitment to teamwork. Proficiency in standard Office programs and design software is also necessary, along with an openness to utilizing AI tools.
Educational Background: The position requires candidates to be currently enrolled as students or to have graduated within the last six months from the start of the internship. This educational background is crucial as it ensures that interns are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills relevant to the field of sustainable urban mobility and development cooperation.
Experience: Candidates should ideally have some relevant professional experience in international development cooperation, particularly in areas related to climate change and urban mobility. This experience can be gained through internships, volunteer work, or academic projects that demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development and an understanding of the complexities involved in urban mobility challenges.
Languages: Fluency in French and English is mandatory for this position, as these languages are essential for effective communication within the team and with external partners.
