Job Overview:
The Investigations Analyst position is crucial for conducting independent investigations into allegations of wrongdoing and staff misconduct within UNFPA programs and operations. This includes serious allegations such as fraud, corruption, sexual exploitation and abuse, harassment, and abuse of authority. The role requires a strong commitment to ethical standards and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism. The analyst will report directly to the Chiefs of the Investigations Units and will be involved in various investigative processes, including interviews, evidence analysis, and case management. The position is designed for individuals who can contribute to the improvement of UNFPA's operations and uphold its values of integrity and accountability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Investigations Analyst will be responsible for providing regular assistance to investigations and conducting investigations as needed. This includes supporting the investigation process by conducting interviews, analyzing documentary and electronic evidence, performing open-source research, and managing case management systems. The analyst will also contribute to the development of professional practices within the Office of Audit and Investigation Services (OAIS) by maintaining and updating policies and procedures. Additionally, the analyst will assist in addressing issues raised by clients and stakeholders, undertake investigative activities for specific cases, and perform special reviews as assigned by the Director of OAIS. The expected outcomes include timely and efficient support to investigative casework and improvements in OAIS processes.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in law, criminology, or a closely related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with significant relevant education, professional certifications, and experience in investigations may be accepted. A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in criminal and/or administrative investigations is required. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to analyze and summarize investigation findings accurately and have experience in drafting and reviewing investigative documents. Knowledge of UN policies and procedures related to administrative investigations is desirable, and familiarity with investigation software applications is an advantage.

Educational Background:
The position requires an advanced university degree in law, criminology, or a closely related field. In cases where candidates hold a first-level university degree, they must also have significant relevant education, professional certifications, and experience in investigations to be considered equivalent to an advanced degree.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least two years of progressively responsible experience in criminal and/or administrative investigations. This experience should include the ability to analyze and summarize findings effectively and demonstrate proficiency in drafting and reviewing legal or investigative documents. Familiarity with UN policies and procedures is highly desirable, and experience with investigation-related software applications is considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with a proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of other UN official languages, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, or Russian, is highly desirable and can enhance a candidate's profile.
