Job Overview: The Consortium Coordinator will be pivotal in ensuring the successful coordination, technical oversight, and quality assurance of an economic recovery project in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) and Ninewa Governorate. This role involves leading a consortium of three organizations, including DRC as the lead, and requires the Coordinator to facilitate collaboration among partners, ensuring that their approaches, tools, and methodologies are aligned. The Coordinator will oversee joint assessments, monitor project implementation, and identify challenges while promoting best practices. Regular review meetings will be conducted to track progress, spending, and risk management, ensuring that the project meets its objectives and complies with donor requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Consortium Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating consortium partners to ensure effective collaboration and communication across project activities. This includes providing overall leadership, ensuring compliance with project objectives and timelines, and overseeing financial oversight and monitoring. The Coordinator will develop and implement standardized templates and guidance, present briefings to the Steering Committee, and facilitate technical working groups. They will monitor project progress, document lessons learned, and lead monthly review meetings to track various aspects of the project. Additionally, the Coordinator will support partners with technical guidance, represent the consortium in relevant forums, and contribute to market assessments and training curriculum development.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate experience in coordinating multi-partner projects, particularly in economic recovery contexts. A strong background in vocational training, business development, and cash-for-work programming is essential. Applicants should have experience with program planning and monitoring, familiarity with donor requirements, and the ability to engage with local authorities and civil society. Knowledge of logistics, finance, and HR management is also important, along with the capacity to incorporate gender and diversity considerations into project design and implementation.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in management, social sciences, economics, development studies, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary theoretical foundation and analytical skills needed to effectively manage the complexities of the role.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least five years of experience in an NGO technical or coordination position, with a proven track record in managing economic recovery projects in Iraq. Experience in conflict-affected environments is highly desirable, as is familiarity with local dynamics and challenges.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Kurdish and Arabic is highly desirable. This multilingual capability will facilitate effective communication with diverse stakeholders and enhance project implementation.
Additional Notes: The position is a 14-month contract, classified under the Non-Management band (G). The start date is set for May 1, 2025, and the duty station will be in Erbil, with frequent travel across Iraq, particularly in KRI and Ninewa.
