Job Overview: The Support ServicesTeam Leader plays a crucial role in managing the support services for the DRC field operations. Reporting directly to the Area Manager, this position involves overseeing key support staff and ensuring the effective provision of supply chain, finance, human resources, and administrative services. The Team Leader is responsible for implementing systems that align with DRC policies and donor guidelines, ensuring compliance and efficiency in all operations. This role requires a proactive approach to leadership, with a focus on developing and maintaining high standards of service delivery across all support functions. The Team Leader will also be involved in safety protocol amendments and the integration of safety practices within the area office, highlighting the importance of a secure working environment.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Support Services Team Leader will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: providing line management and leadership to support staff across various departments such as supply chain, finance, and administration; developing and implementing effective systems for each unit to ensure compliance with DRC policies; managing the financial operations of the field office, including accounting, budget management, and financial reporting; overseeing human resources functions, including staff attendance tracking, recruitment, and training; ensuring proper administration of leases and timely payment of utilities; managing travel arrangements for staff and visitors; and ensuring the quality and compliance of supply chain operations. The Team Leader will also be responsible for monitoring procurement procedures and supporting program teams in logistics management.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Support Services Team Leader position must possess strong management skills and a proven track record in people management. A sound understanding of cost planning, budgeting, and financial reporting is essential, along with excellent supervisory and communication skills. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures, and possess proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Additionally, a solid knowledge of finance and accounting principles is required to effectively manage the financial aspects of the role.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Accounting, Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is required for this position. Relevant certifications or licenses in these areas will be considered an asset, as they demonstrate a commitment to professional development and expertise in the field.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in support services functions within international non-governmental organizations (INGOs), including at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or management role. This experience should encompass a broad range of support services, including finance, human resources, and supply chain management, to ensure the candidate is well-equipped to handle the diverse responsibilities of the role.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an advantage, particularly if they are relevant to the local context or the populations served by DRC.
Additional Notes: The contract for this position is set to last until 31 December 2025, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The role is classified as Band G – Management, indicating a seniority level that requires significant experience and expertise. The position is based in Dollo Ado, Somali Region, and the start date is as soon as possible. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National employees, which can be found on their website.
