Job Overview: The Portfolio and Platform Lead (PPL) is a pivotal role within the organization, focusing on enhancing the foundation's capabilities in product development and portfolio management. The PPL is expected to work collaboratively across various teams, particularly within the Program Strategy Teams (PSTs) and Functional Teams, to ensure that the portfolio of investments related to product development is effectively managed and implemented. The overarching goal is to facilitate the development of new interventions that address critical health issues faced by women and children in low-resource settings. The PPL will leverage their extensive product development experience to navigate the complexities of partnerships with various stakeholders, including biotechnology firms, academic institutions, and product development partners. This role is designed for someone with a strong background in product development who is eager to contribute to the diverse product portfolio of the Maternal, Newborn, nutrition" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Child Nutrition & Health (MNCNH) Team, which focuses on high-impact products aimed at improving health outcomes for women and children.
Duties and Responsibilities: The PPL will be responsible for developing long-term portfolio execution plans that align with the team's strategic objectives. This includes collaborating with various foundation teams to create and implement integrated product development plans, adhering to the Product Development Integrated Development (PDID) framework, and ensuring proper documentation and database management. The PPL will identify and assess key risks at the portfolio level, developing and managing mitigation and contingency plans. Additionally, the PPL will serve as a thought partner to the MNCNH team on product development challenges and best practices, while also promoting the use of standardized approaches and tools for effective portfolio management. The role requires effective project management skills to facilitate initiative planning, costing, and forecasting, as well as managing relationships with internal and external partners. The PPL will also be expected to stay informed about the status of priority initiatives and provide project management support as needed, ensuring alignment and addressing any misalignments that may arise.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industries, with at least 5 years in a senior-level operational role. A strong background in project management of biologics or drugs R&D efforts at both the product and portfolio levels is essential, particularly experience in moving products through IND and/or NDA phases. Ideal candidates may have held positions such as Research Project Leader, Vaccine Development Leader, or Clinical Team Leader. Additionally, candidates should have expert-level knowledge in integrated product development project management, portfolio/platform management in a pharma/biotech context, and risk assessment and management.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Life Sciences or a related field is required. Relevant experience or advanced degrees may also be considered in lieu of formal education.
