Job Overview: The User Onboarding Strategist will play a crucial role within the Institute for Disease Modeling (IDM), which is part of the Gates Foundation. This position is responsible for defining and executing the strategy for user onboarding as part of IDM's software team. The strategist will work on defining user personas, creating workflows for user onboarding, and collaborating across research and software teams. The role also involves leveraging technological advancements, such as AI, to enhance productivity and effectiveness in creating superior user experiences for researchers in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). The strategist will ensure that IDM's software offerings are user-friendly and accessible to a global community of modelers, thereby supporting the organization's mission to eradicate infectious diseases and improve health outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties and responsibilities of the User Onboarding Strategist include:
Developing and maintaining a comprehensive strategy for user onboarding that includes well-defined outcomes and a milestone-based execution plan aimed at exceeding established goals.
Defining user personas and ensuring their implementation across software, incorporating user feedback into execution plans.
Acting as a subject matter expert on the latest technological advances that enhance user experiences.
Designing and implementing clear workflows for documentation, standards, and guidelines, including roles and responsibilities across the software team.
Creating guidelines for authors to produce and share manuscripts, scientific research, and content for websites and social media, in collaboration with brand and communication teams.
Designing and implementing a strategy for managing internal and external information across platforms like SharePoint, GitHub, and the IDM website.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. They should have advanced knowledge and skills in organizational change management and continuous improvement frameworks, as well as experience working directly with engineering and research teams in editing and writing capacities. Candidates should also have advanced experience in organizing, editing, and scoping research publications, along with project planning experience to deliver established editorial work-back plans and schedules. Experience managing contractors and freelancers is a plus, as is the ability to translate highly technical scientific work for diverse audiences across various communication products and channels. A passion for 'science as a public good' is essential.
Educational Background: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent demonstrated experience. This educational background should ideally be complemented by advanced knowledge in relevant fields related to organizational change management and continuous improvement.
