Job Overview: The (Associate) Banking Software Specialist for Collateral Management solutions will be an integral part of the Group Corporate Services Directorate at the EIB. This role involves working on critical IT software solutions specifically in the area of Collateral Management. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing business requirements, designing technical solutions, and collaborating closely with business counterparts to ensure that the EIB's objectives are met through innovation and digitalization. The position requires a regular presence in the office and offers the opportunity to work in a multicultural environment, with relocation support provided for successful candidates.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the (Associate) Banking Software Specialist include conducting thorough analyses with business representatives to formulate technical solution designs and specifications. The role also involves identifying and prioritizing new business requirements and managing cloud-related activities. The specialist will take on project management responsibilities for assigned IT projects, coordinating the planning and implementation of new or enhanced software solutions. Active participation in the full lifecycle of development projects is expected, along with managing and providing second-level user support. This includes channeling and prioritizing inquiries from end-users, analyzing technical incidents, identifying temporary workarounds, and following up on resolutions in cooperation with other IT teams and external software vendors. The specialist will ensure that IT policies and initiatives in the domain of Collateral Management are effectively implemented and that key operational processes are run efficiently. Maximizing the utilization of standard functionalities offered by core software packages and gradually supplementing functionalities with new modules in an Agile manner is also a key responsibility. Collaboration with consultants involved in maintenance and project activities is essential to ensure the delivery of expected solutions to internal business customers.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree, equivalent to at least a Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or a related field. A minimum of three years of professional experience is required, specifically involving requirements analysis, software design, development, second-level support, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise information management systems, ideally within a banking environment. Preference will be given to candidates with more senior exposure. In-depth technical knowledge of banking packages and interfacing techniques is essential, along with experience with one or more banking packages such as ION WallStreet, FIS, Calypso, or market data management systems like Golden Source, Alveo, Neoxam, Apex FIS, or Markit. A good technical background in object-oriented design programming (C#, Java), scripting languages (Unix shell, Python, PL-SQL), and DBMS systems (Oracle and/or Sybase SQL, DB Schema) is also required. Knowledge of cloud and managed services principles, particularly AWS architecture, is an asset. Familiarity with financial IT applications architecture and IT infrastructure, as well as knowledge of Collateral Management or Treasury, is advantageous. Candidates should also have a good understanding of financial instruments and business processes related to post-trade processing. Excellent knowledge of project management principles, methods, and practices is necessary.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree, preferably in computer science or a related field. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the technical aspects of the role and for effectively engaging with the various software solutions and banking packages that the EIB utilizes.
Experience: The position requires at least three years of relevant professional experience. This experience should encompass a range of activities including requirements analysis, software design, development, second-level support, and the implementation and maintenance of enterprise information management systems. Candidates with experience in a banking environment, particularly in a mixed IT/Finance context, will be given preference. More senior candidates with extensive experience in these areas are encouraged to apply.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, and a good command of French is also required. While knowledge of other EU languages is considered an advantage, it is not a prerequisite for hire. Proficiency in both English and French is essential for future career development within the EIB, as both languages are official working languages of the organization.
