Job Overview: The Global Insurance Category Buyer will play a crucial role within the Global Procurement Unit (GPU) of MSF International. This position is designed to develop and lead global procurement strategies that manage and optimize procurement spending for insurance categories. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that procurement strategies are pertinent, efficient, and aligned with the global needs of MSF. The role requires close collaboration with various stakeholders, including the International Insurance Steering Committee (IISC), finance and HR departments, and other MSF entities. The buyer will also be tasked with analyzing market trends, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies while addressing the needs of internal clients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive analysis of the insurance category and develop strategies that align with the needs of MSF entities and the strategic objectives of the GPU.
Lead strategic procurement activities for insurance categories, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and internal client requirements.
Develop and maintain deep knowledge of market factors affecting assigned categories, implementing supply chain optimization and risk mitigation strategies.
Manage supplier relationships, performing supplier segmentation and ensuring a balanced supplier base.
Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions as necessary, while encouraging supplier engagement in sustainability assessments.
Establish and maintain a network of stakeholders as the procurement focal point for the category, ensuring smooth communication and feedback on category activities.
Provide capacity building support to field teams and share best practices to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of procurement processes. They should have experience in strategic sourcing and supplier management, as well as a proven track record of developing and implementing procurement strategies. Familiarity with the humanitarian sector and MSF's operational context is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field is required. A master's degree or professional certification in procurement or supply chain management is preferred.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with a focus on strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management. Experience in the humanitarian sector or with international organizations is an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in French or Spanish is considered a strong asset. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to MSF's operational areas is a plus.
Additional Notes: This position is offered as a fixed-term contract at 100% for a duration of 12 months, with a starting date as soon as possible. The successful candidate will be based in the MSF office of their country of residence at the time of application. Compensation and benefits will be in accordance with MSF's practices and the specific entity establishing the contract.
