Job Overview:
The Program Coordinator plays a crucial role in the coordination, implementation, and maintenance of various projects and activities that support the lifecycle of grants and contracts. This position involves managing a portfolio of investments, focusing on processes and systems, conducting initial investment due diligence, and managing timelines. The investment portfolio may vary in complexity, and the coordinator will support programmatic strategic goals by overseeing budget planning, analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis, and reporting. The role is essential in ensuring that the foundation's health and development equity agenda aligns with broader governmental priorities, particularly in low-income countries. This position is a limited-term role for 9 months based in Ethiopia, and relocation will not be provided.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Program Coordinator is responsible for the following duties:
  • Grant and Contracts Coordination: Oversee the development, management, and closure of grants, ensuring that contracts are tracked for invoicing and deliverables, and that required reports are received and expenditures supervised.
  • Coordinate the end-to-end processes of contracts and grants with both internal and external parties, utilizing the INVEST system.
  • Analyze and shape the investment portfolio to align with organizational goals, balancing investments across various factors such as risk and partner types.
  • Facilitate planning and alignment for team priorities and portfolio execution, including supporting various meetings and reviews.
  • Collaborate with business partners, grantees, and vendors throughout the investment lifecycle to ensure smooth processes.
  • Collect and analyze portfolio data, identify trends, and communicate issues to the program team.
  • Maintain high-quality interactions and clear communication with grantees and partners.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on processes and tools, providing training and support to ensure successful adoption and use.
  • Participate in cross-foundation and cross-program projects as needed, involving various departments such as IT, Finance, and HR.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree and have at least 4 years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience in related fields. Strong preference is given to candidates with experience in project management, portfolio management, program management, financial management, financial reporting, or the non-profit sector. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility, efficiency, and diplomacy in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to adapt to rapid changes and learn quickly. They should also be capable of managing multiple competing demands and establishing priorities effectively. Knowledge of investment rules and regulations is essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position. Candidates with advanced degrees or specialized training in relevant fields such as finance, project management, or public health may be preferred, although equivalent experience may also be considered.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in relevant fields. Candidates should have a proven track record in project management, financial management, or related areas, demonstrating the ability to work effectively in complex environments and manage multiple priorities. Experience in the non-profit sector or similar industries is strongly preferred, as is familiarity with investment processes and systems.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the regions served by the organization may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This is a limited-term position for 9 months based in Ethiopia, and relocation assistance will not be provided. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Ethiopia without visa sponsorship. The role may require travel up to 25% of the time. As part of the hiring process, candidates will undergo a background check.
