Job Overview: The (Senior) Squad Leader (Product Manager) position at the EIB is a pivotal role within the Group Corporate Services Directorate, specifically in the Group Digital Office's Business Solutions Department. This role involves leading a software development team tasked with designing and implementing software products that meet the evolving needs of the EIB. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the software solutions are user-friendly and effectively enhance the client experience. The position requires a strong focus on aligning product development with the strategic priorities of the division and department, as well as maintaining constant communication with business stakeholders to ensure that the software products are meeting their needs. The role also emphasizes the importance of applying agile and devops methodologies to foster continuous improvement and deliver business value regularly.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the (Senior) Squad Leader include defining project priorities in collaboration with business peers, managing a cross-functional software development team, and ensuring that the team operates effectively as a cohesive unit. The leader will be responsible for coordinating tasks among functional analysts, software engineers, and quality assurance engineers, while also promoting continuous process improvement within the squad. Additionally, the role involves aligning product direction with strategic priorities, maintaining communication with the business community, and applying design thinking to enhance the software product. The leader will also oversee the analysis, design, implementation, and testing of business features, monitor key performance indicators, and ensure that resources are efficiently allocated to meet quality and time-to-market requirements. Furthermore, the (Senior) Squad Leader will implement necessary IT processes and promote compliance with relevant IT policies and procedures among EIB staff.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree, equivalent to at least a Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or a related field. A minimum of five years of relevant IT professional experience is required, with a strong background in product teams, ideally within the financial sector. Candidates should have solid experience in functional analysis and testing, as well as a comprehensive understanding of Java/JavaScript-based architecture. Excellent knowledge of agile and project management principles is essential, along with exposure to managing projects involving Java and JavaScript technologies. A strong willingness to acquire business knowledge is also crucial for success in this role.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree, preferably in computer science or a related discipline. This foundational knowledge is essential for understanding the technical aspects of software development and management within the context of the EIB's operations.
Experience: The position requires at least five years of relevant IT professional work experience. Candidates should have solid experience in a product team, preferably gained in the financial sector, which will provide the necessary context for understanding the unique challenges and requirements of the EIB's software development initiatives.
Languages: Proficiency in English and/or French is mandatory, with a good command of the other language being advantageous. Knowledge of additional EU languages would be considered a plus. Proficiency is defined as achieving level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).
Additional Notes: This is a full-time position at grade 5/6, offering a permanent contract. The EIB provides relocation support for candidates moving to Luxembourg. Panel interviews are expected to commence in March 202
