Job Overview:
The Contractor position focuses on creating child-friendly versions of reports and educational materials related to the prevention of violence against children. This role is crucial in ensuring that children are informed and engaged regarding their rights and safety. The Contractor will work under the supervision of the Chief of Staff and will be responsible for designing and illustrating documents that communicate complex issues in an accessible manner for children. The position emphasizes the importance of visual storytelling and advocacy in promoting children's rights and protection.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Contractor will be tasked with designing and illustrating a 12-page child-friendly version of the mandate’s report to the Human Rights Council and the UN General Assembly. Additionally, the Contractor will create ten illustrated infographics aimed at educating children about violence and protection issues. The role also involves developing illustrations for advocacy materials related to the Pathfinding Global Alliance, which focuses on countries committed to ending violence against children. The Contractor will need to ensure that all materials are engaging, informative, and suitable for a young audience, facilitating their understanding of important issues.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a first-level university degree in art, design, illustration, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of 10 years of experience in illustration is required, with a strong emphasis on illustrating children's books. Experience in the field of human rights and development-related issues is also essential. The ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious working relationships is crucial for this role.

Educational Background:
A first-level university degree in art, design, illustration, or a related field is mandatory. This educational background should be complemented by extensive experience in illustration, particularly in contexts that involve children and human rights.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 10 years of professional experience in illustration, with specific experience in illustrating children's books. Familiarity with human rights issues and development-related work, especially in contexts involving child protection, is highly desirable. The ability to demonstrate a history of working in diverse and multicultural settings is also important.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish, both oral and written, is required as it is one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat. Knowledge of English is considered desirable, enhancing communication within the organization and with international partners.
